Coca-Cola HBC profits rise as hot weather, World Cup fever prop up volumes

Coca-Cola HBC reported double-digit pretax profit for the first half of the year as hot weather and the World Cup supported demand.

For the six months to 30 June, Coca-Cola HBC pre-tax profit rose 14% to €290.1m from €254.2m a year earlier, net sales revenue increased by 6.4% to €3.23bn and volumes were up 4.6% to 1.07bn unit cases.

Net profit increased 13.2% to €216.9 from €191.6m.

The stronger half year was driven by an acceleration in second quarter performance, supported by new product launches, good weather and the FIFA World Cup.

Looking to the full year, we continue to expect volume and price/mix growth, as well as slightly more favourable input cost movements. Altogether, we expect to make progress in both revenue and margin growth in 2018,' the company said.

At 8:24am: (LON:CCH) CocaCola HBC share price was -31.5p at 2718.5p
