Orogen Work Plan
Orogens exploration objective for Deli Jovan is to demonstrate the potential for a minimum 500,000 ounce gold resource, with scope for substantial additional resources. Orogen will target a maiden inferred resource of 100,000 ounces of gold which would support an initial two to three years of production at an annualised rate of 30,000 to 40,000 ounces of gold. Subsequent drilling and sampling will be aimed at further extending the resource base to support a continuing mining operation. This will be achieved through re-opening and detailed mapping and sampling of the old mine workings and diamond drilling to confirm and extend the Rusman and Gindua deposits.
Subject to the outcome of the initial work phase, a follow-up programme is proposed comprising 20,000m of diamond drilling to delineate a maiden inferred resource of 100,000 ounces of gold sufficient to support two to three years of production based on a preliminary economic assessment.
Chairman Adam Reynolds said, 'We have a very exciting gold project in Deli Jovan which I believe will significantly enhance shareholder value and additionally we are reviewing a number of other mineral exploration opportunities in Europe and Asia that are at varying stages of advancement.

A post from the other side courtesy of Apavlovic who visited the site last week.
I visited Deli Jovan (Rusman) on Thursday f last week with a couple of friends who were my guide and frankly could not have done it without them and their ff road Lada Niva. What an experience that was and I pay my tribute to the Russian off road vehicle despite its looks and extreme lack of comfort but its amazing ability in that terrain is stunning.
Anyway enough about cars but a bit more about my friends. I d not know what their profession is English language but will describe their activity. They are responsible for detailed mapping of the terrain. So for eg. If you buy land they would come up and measure coordinates and determine length and width precise locatin gradient etc. Same for roads, footpaths etc and this information is then entered into maps and these drawings are then used for submitting applications etc. Why is this important?
These were the guys who were contracted by the Belgrade Company to do the work for Reservoir Gold JV Company in Belgrade. They took me to Rusman to show me what I called little pits and excavations which they were asked to map out the work which was subsequently used for submitting applications for exploration permit. The maps which they produced ate 3D n a scale of 1:10 or 1:50 (cannot remember which) which means basically detailed terrain mapping every 10 or 50metres. Presumably these shots are used to produce details images and maps so they can start plotting detail and planning sampling and future excavations
.
First let me tell you about the road. Set off via Zajecar all fine up to Seliste. It then gets narrower but the good news was that I spotted a school bus in the village ( well I would call it a hamlet as it had no more then @20 houses) which means road kept open in winter. Keep forgetting the name of the place but anyway when we reached this place it was time for me to leave my rented Scoda Fabia and jump into Lada (see pictures). Could have perhaps made it in a conventional car but would have been bad news for the suspension. It was very dry and if it had rained I would have said no chance. The pictures of the road I have taken go on for @4km. No panic. There is a better road which we could have taken ( we used on return trip) which was better and shorter before we hit gravel. I can now understand why sampling was not taken in December. They would have had no chance - simple as that. Any rain or snow you need a good and narrow 4 x 4.
The road to Gindusa is better I am told but I have not been there. It is @5 miles away and frankly once you have sine one excavation you have seen them all. I was also told there was less activity at Gindusa and the only difference was the rock was predominantly dark unlike Rusman where it is more brown in colour. I tok some samples so when I land at Gatwick hopefully this would be picked up by scanners and IMO this would be a good sign LOL. Rock samples attached seemed to have a lot of sparkle in them and I think these are quarts minerals. In fact you could see the sparkle in the soil which was quite strange and I have not seen it before. However when reading this please be warned: I am not a geologist (far from it) and this is probably a quite nae and amateurish observation.
In terms of possible questions you are probably asking yourself and I would like to say that the climate here is not as severe as it is a little further south. Yes they get lots of snow and cold but roads are kept open and hence mining can be done 365 days but I am convinced that the last stretch of road would need IMPROVEMENT. I will not pst the bits in red.
With regard to sampling I have seen one excavation which looked quite fresh see image 689. You can see some solidified mud to the decide which means must have been taken when it was taken recently or the ground beneath must be wet. In my view this must confirm samples have been taken quite recently. I thought the ground conditins were excellent and I would suspect the company will take the next steps and re open sme of the mines.
It was a very interesting to see. Lots of small pits and what I call holes dug out everywhere. An ancient wall you can see in the photo must have been used a long time ago with some purpose! What is also interesting to see and hopefully you can spot this in my photos is that a lot of mining seems t have taken place at surface level and you can see little terraces were formed on the hills. Des this suggest the possibility of larger open pit mining being one possibility. It is also worth remembering the distance between Rusman and Gindusa is 8km so potentially a large area if veins stretch that far!
At end the day I took the guys to the most fantastic barbecue Zajecar. Wish I took some photos of that to envy you all!
Pay attention to image 689. In my opinion this sample was taken recently. You can tell it was muddy and grass has not grown back which to me suggest quite recent activity.

Orogen Gold Plc
("Orogen" or "the Company")
Exploration Update
Orogen Gold Plc (AIM:ORE) the AIM listed mineral exploration company, focussed on gold exploration and development in Eastern Europe, announces the advancement of its plan to reopen access to the Deli Jovan gold mines in eastern Serbia. Deli Jovan comprises two shallow underground gold mines at Rusman and Gindusa, about 6 kilometres apart along a major shear zone, that were last in production over seventy years ago.
As previously reported, permission has been granted by the Serbian Licensing Authority to open up the original shafts into the Deli Jovan mine. The Company is now pleased to announce that a landowner agreement has been completed to facilitate the planned work at the Rusman mine area; this will allow the Company begin work there. Furthermore, the Company is pleased to announce that it has purchased 39 acres of land over the Gindusa mine area. This has secured access to the site, in readiness for work to begin.
An experienced Serbian underground mining refurbishment contractor has been appointed and their preparation work will begin immediately, with work at the site to commence before the end of May 2011.
Historical drawings show mine shafts that descend approximately 100 metres, with galleries every 30 metres or so, following high grade gold veins. At this stage the condition of the shafts and galleries is unknown. Once access to the underground workings is completed, the Company plans to carry out detailed re-mapping and re-sampling to feed into a preliminary assessment of the resource potential.
Ed Slowey, CEO, commented:
"This news represents real momentum towards our company's goals. The successful accessing of these historic mines will be a significant step forward in our programme. We now have access to what we believe are prized assets with great potential .We look forward to reporting back as the work programme progresses".

Gold to Reach $5,000 Due to Supply Shortage: Report
An exhaustive report by Standard Chartered predicts that gold will more than triple to $5,000 an ounce because of a lack of supply, not just because of a surge in demand that most bullion bugs cite in their bullish calls.
"Standard Chartered recommends that clients buy shares of smaller gold miners to get the most upside from its prediction but also said clients could buy physical gold and gold exchange-traded funds"

From another thread, very relevant here especially this bit from the article So I have two messages here. One is to gold share investors. Look for companies in which the management team has a significant stake
"The slickest salesman in the world
The Vancouver promoter can be any size. Ive seen short fat ones and Ive seen tall slim ones. But they all wear expensive watches, cufflinks that would dazzle even Midas and suits that somehow manage to be both Saville Row and Italian.
The handshake is manly, the manners impeccable. And, boy, are they glad to meet you. The grey hair shines and then they smile. How is it possible to have such white teeth?
And then they tell you about this mine. Oh my gosh. This is it. This is the one. This is going to make us all rich. There is nothing they wont say, nothing they wont promise, if theres commission in it for them. Mark Twain, who lost a fortune speculating in mining stocks, may as well have said a mine is a hole in the ground with a Vancouver promoter standing next to it.
When gold miners lag gold, its often a warning sign
Im saying all this for a reason.
Even although gold is up something like 7% this year and made new highs just a month ago, gold mining companies are having a horrible time. From major producers to tiny explorers, the entire sector peaked last December and has been in a bear market ever since.
Its a divergence that is galling, frustrating and confusing investors everywhere. And it didnt necessarily begin last December. Charlie Morris, HSBCs head of absolute return, observes: Since late November 2003, this gold bull market has broken the rules. If you had invested $100 into gold at that time it would have grown to $385 today. However, had you instead invested in a basket of gold mining shares, you would be disappointed to lag behind with just $216 (including dividends).
The last time the divergence was as marked as this was in late 2007 / early 2008. We all know what happened next. It also happened in 1998 with the long term capital management meltdown, and in 2000 before the tech bust.
If another 2008 crash is around the corner, gold miners that dont yet have any production and rely on the capital markets for funding, will be even more hammered, just as they were in 2008.
But it doesnt have to be like this.
There are many reasons for lagging shares. One is the proliferation of gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs). It has become so easy for people to buy gold itself that they dont bother with the shares.
Another problem is so-called Dutch disease, when profits are choked by currency strength. Miners get paid for gold in US dollars, but they often incur their costs in other, stronger currencies. Since October 2008, gold has risen by 108% in US dollars, but 60% in Canadian dollars, for example, and just 23% in Australian dollars. The South African miners, in particular, have been hit hard by the strong rand.
How Vancouver promoters hurt gold mining shareholders
However, for me, one of the biggest offenders is companies diluting themselves (selling more shares to raise fresh funds). This happens right accross the mining spectrum from senior to junior. Ive lost count of the number of small miners who declare they have easily mine-able, near-surface deposits with potential production at $500 or $600 an ounce.
Sounds great. But then they stray from that goal of a small amount of production. This is where the Vancouver promoter comes in. He doesnt care if the company gets diluted. In fact, the more shares that get issued, the better it all adds to his commission.
He flashes that smile. He persuades the miner that he can raise $2m or $5m or $10m for them. The miners eyes glaze over as he imagines all the drilling he can do. And the promoter pockets a fast 10%, or whatever his fee is, plus a bunch of options.
On the advice of said promoter, the miner sets about further expanding the resource and proving up more ounces at the end of which he has to raise more money. And were no nearer production. Weve just increased the size (and value) of the ore body.
Gold miners: just get the stuff out of the ground!
But, for goodness sake, gold is at $1,500 an ounce. If you can produce even a small amount 500 ounces, 1,000 ounces a month at $500 an ounce cost, youll make a mint. 1,000 ounces a month would mean $1m a month, $12m a year.
There are so many companies with market caps of $20-$50m. If they were making that kind of money, their market caps would double, triple, quadruple all without any dilution to shareholders. And most importantly they wouldnt be vulnerable to the ebb and flow of the capital markets. Surely its not that difficult to see?
But that way the Vancouver promoter doesnt make his 10%. So hell advise against it. And if management dont have a large stake in the company, they wont mind a bit of dilution. After all, drilling holes in the ground is easier than building a mine.
Not all miners make this mistake. Gold Resource Corp (US:GORO), a company I follow and indeed recommended to MoneyWeek readers at just over $2 has gone from $1 to $30 in five years and pays a monthly dividend. That is not a share that has lagged gold!
How has the company been successful? Because the boss Bill Reid had a huge stake himself, so he didnt dilute it. He began producing the near-surface gold as quickly as he could. Only then did he start expanding the resource further underground. Its really not a hard model to follow.
So I have two messages here. One is to gold share investors. Look for companies in which the management team has a significant stake. (In the case of Gold Resource Corp, over 30% was owned by the Reid family). Look for companies that are taking concrete steps towards building a mine. And ignore the ones that keep issuing paper, particularly when markets are weak. (Ill have a new gold report out soon, where Ill be identifying some of the most promising candidates.)
The other message is for the mining companies themselves. We are in the mother of all bull markets. It wont last forever. If there is any potential for near-term production, start producing. Forget all the other stuff. And, for goodness sake, ignore the bloke with the white teeth."

Steady as she goes
● Work on re-opening the Gindua shaft has started and we anticipate to reach the first
mine level at 30m depth within 2 months
● Recent completion of a surface trenching programme confirmed the presence of gold
mineralisation in country rock adjacent to the main vein system indicating potential for
mineralisation beyond the main lode
● Recent completion of soil sampling exploration along 5km of the Deli Jovan gold belt
to detect possible 'blind' gold-bearing lodes, with laboratory results available in late
August / early September
Ed Slowey, Chief Executive of Orogen Gold comments:
"We are delighted by the progress that we have made at Deli Jovan over the last few months and we are excited about the prospect of finally entering the old workings at Rusman. We are enthusiastic about the prospects for the Deli Jovan gold project and are looking forward to the results of our exploration programme over the coming months. We also continue to look for new gold projects in Europe geologically similar to Deli Jovan that meet our investment criteria and create value through leveraging our extensive management expertise."

Operational Update 5 Dec 2011
The Company is pleased to report that it has gained access to the upper levels at both mines and following further de-watering and recovery work the team should be able to gain access to the lowest levels. In the meantime the mapping programme is close to completion in the upper levels at Rusman and this work will continue for the next few weeks at both mines. The mapping programme will be supplemented by an underground sampling programme that will help identify targets for a drilling programme that the Company is planning for 2012. Initial indications are that the Gindusa mine represents the more productive of the two former mines, with evidence of pyrite-mineralised quartz veining and open stoping both in the lateral and vertical dimensions. This substantiates the historic reports that Gindusa was a significant gold producer in the past and also supports the potential to uncover new gold zones to the south and west as indicated by the recent soil sampling results.
Results of the mapping and sampling programme should be available for release in Q1 of 2012 at which time Orogen expects to be in a position to define the drilling programme in detail. In the meantime the Company has already reserved a diamond drilling rig in readiness for the commencement of the drilling programme which is scheduled for start-up in April 2012.

-- Targets at both historic mines untested by drilling to date, leaving scope for discovery of significant extensions to the previously mined zones. Drilling contract due to be signed imminently
“The results of Orogen's underground mapping and sampling programme confirm the presence of very high grade gold mineralisation at both Gindusa and Rusman,” said chief executive of Orogen Ed Slowey.
“Clearly the results warrant a substantial diamond drilling programme focussed on the higher grade and more continuous gold shoots at Gindusa, as well as the wider shear zone containing multiple mineralised vein systems.”
“This programme will commence very shortly and I look forward to reporting further positive results to shareholders over the coming months.”
Orogen expects to sign a drilling contract imminently.

2nd May 2012:
Orogen Gold plc (formerly Medavinci plc) is a UK public company quoted on the London Stock Exchange AIM market (ticker: ORE). The company’s main activities are focused on mineral exploration and production in Europe.
The Company is incorporated in England & Wales and its business is managed from London and Dublin.
12:31 pm by Giles Gwinnett The drilling is aimed at exploring the historic Gindusa and Rusman gold mines, from where this week the firm received high grade sampling results Investors should see a steady stream of updates this summer from Serbia-focused explorer Orogen Gold (LON:ORE) as it begins drilling the Deli Jovan project.
So says broker XCap, which notes these are "exciting" times for Orogen, soon to embark on a five month, 7,500 metre drill programme.
The drilling is aimed at exploring the historic Gindusa and Rusman gold mines, from where this week the firm received high grade sampling results.
"The coming months are set to provide a steady stream of updates as assay results become available, with this fully funded phase of drilling expected to complete the spending requirements to earn 55 per cent of the project," said XCAP analyst Sam Brindle in a note to clients.
"Positive results should quickly lead to further resource drilling, completion of the 75 per cent earn-in and the initial target of a 100,000 ounces inferred gold resource over the following 12-months."
The historic mining camp at Deli Jovan, 150km from Belgrade, was last in production before World War II with the major part of gold production between 1900 and 1912.
It comprises two former gold mines - Gindusa and Rusman - and there has been little exploration of the property since mining stopped in 1938.
On Monday, the company announced the results from an underground channel and grab sample programme at the two former mines.
Assays included very high gold grades of up to 63.4 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold over one metre from underground sampling at the Gindusa mine, where chip samples returned grades of up to 133 g/t gold.
Four gold bearing mineralised structures were identified at Gindusa, including one not previously known, and Orogen noted that mineralised zones at Gindusa remained open along strike and down dip.
At Rusman, the company found two gold target zones with underground grab samples showing up to 82.5 g/t gold.
Targets at both mines have not yet been drill tested, leaving scope for significant extensions.
Orogen's chief executive Ed Slowey had said the results clearly warranted a substantial diamond drilling programme - a contract for which is expected to be signed in a matter of days.
Xcap analyst Brindle said the initial focus of the drilling would be to determine the continuity of the high grade vein system identified at Ginduša and the two targets at Rusman.
"Further targets are expected to be identified as the exploration programme progresses with up to 7,500m of diamond core drilling planned by the end of September and a full set of assay results due by the end of November," he added.
Meanwhile, above ground, the soil sampling programme is nearly complete with results expected to flow within the next two months. This will be followed by a ten week trenching programme to identify further drill targets.
Orogen is targeting an initial resource of 100,000 ounces, which would allow it to move into a scoping study for an underground mine producing 30-50,000 ounces a year within three years.
While it is fully funded for the initial portion of its drilling programme, Orogen will require further cash to complete the resource drilling.
It has an earn-in deal with Reservoir Capital (CVE:REO), which will see the former acquire a 55 per cent stake in the property in return for investing C$1.5 million developing the asset.
An additional spend of C$2 million will take that figure to 75 per cent.
Because it is in Serbia, Deli Jovan is plugged into the local infrastructure of a developed western economy, which means it will be cheaper to develop when the time comes.
Had this project been anywhere else than this formerly war-torn region, then it would have been explored and possibly developed many years ago, Slowey has previously told Proactive.
“As exploration geologists, what attracted us was this old mining district that hadn’t been explored in modern times, using modern techniques,” he said.

Result of Annual General Meeting
Chief Executive of Orogen Gold Plc, Ed Slowey,
The Company is entering into an exciting phase of exploration at Deli Jovan. We are moving from early stage exploration relying on historic mine workings and documentation, into an advanced exploration phase, having acquired high quality data that supports our operational programme and commitment to the project. Our management team has the track record and experience necessary to develop this project and we have access to the funding necessary to confirm the potential of Deli Jovan, which is only now being properly explored with modern techniques."

Orogen sees future in old Serbian sites
If you're looking for gold, it makes sense to start where others have already found it. Alternative Investment Market-listed Orogen Gold, has just published the results of sampling work suggesting there is still high-grade gold in two Serbian mines in which it owns a share. The mines haven't been touched since 1938.
Orogen has spent a year mapping the mines' historic development and evaluating whether they have fresh commercial potential. Today's results suggest there's a good chance of a positive outcome, though the company warns more work needs to be done.
House broker Xcap is bullish. Analyst Sam Brindle says: "With a packed summer exploration season these are exciting times for Orogen.

No Kim gave 1.023 pence for them. A way to go yet. Yes I am looking forward to going away, alas flights are too expensive as yet - keep looking every day. Ryanair have some good deals but then £70 for a 20kg bag and bad reviews on that Company. I am trying to go the day before my as my friends will pick me up and I can stay the night with them and they will take me to my destination on the Saturday. So as soon as a reasonable flight becomes available then Yes here I go and correct I can't wait. Sun, sun and more sun hopefully. Be even nicer if I could get some of my share money back before that.
