FTSE set for downbeat start on Tuesday

The FTSE 100 is expected to start around 12 points lower when trading resumes this morning, taking its cue from a downbeat session on Wall street overnight and a relatively flat performance on Asian markets this morning.

Whitbread profit up 20%

Whitbread booked a 20% rise in first-half profits after its opening of new hotel rooms helped boost revenue.

Anglo American output up 6% in Q3

Anglo American has reported a 6% increase in total production on a copper equivalent basis in the third quarter compared to the corresponding period last year.

IPF maintains growth guidance

International Personal Finance delivered credit issued growth of 5% driven by strong performances across IPF Digital and Mexico home credit - up by 40% and 6% respectively - while European home credit contracted by 3%.

Bunzl expects to make further acquisitions

Bunzl said its overall performance for the period since the end of June was consistent with expectations at the time of the half year results announcement in August.
