After tracking the progress of green companies over the last year, the Shares team has decided to embark on the ambitious task of setting up an index for 'green' stocks, an exercise we believe is unique to Shares. Despite their environmental focus, there is currently no dedicated index for companies of this type, so Shares will seek to monitor their collective performance going forward. Seventy companies have been chosen, primarily focused on green issues or, as in the case of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) for instance, have a large role to play in the country's environmental evolution.
