FTSE ends higher ahead of Brexit day as sterling falls

London stocks closed on positive note ahead of PM Theresa May formally starting the Brexit process with the European Union tomorrow, and helped by further weakness in the already undervalued sterling against the dollar.

United Utilities said current trading was in line with its views, warning that while underlying operating profit for 2016-17 was seen moderately higher its revenue would be slightly lower on the year.
